My cooperative pricing plan
My Cooperative Pricing Plan for new/custom art, as of 8-12-14:
I have a price, in most cases, that I am willing to accept for my art. In general, in the early stages of a new work of art, I set a price in my mind that I would sell it for, and then as the art progresses, the price seems to go up. I often think, too bad customer, you should have claimed it earlier. By the time it is finished, I often find it hard to imagine selling it for any reasonable price.
Most finished pieces do have price tags, but not all. Of course anything is negotiable, but there is an "MSRP" set for most of my finished paintings.
Right now, I would tell someone that if they wanted me to create them a new painting, I would accept $1.50 (US) per square inch, unless they can come up with a better idea. Of course this can vary, but I do think I could, for example, do any painting using the same pre-drawing as nearly any I have already painted and be happy with $1.50 per square inch. (A few paintings I have done would not fit this rule.)
IMPORTANT: IT IS ALL NEGOTIABLE. If someone wants to own one of my paintings but does not want to pay $1.50 per square inch, if they are willing to tell me how much they will pay for the size they choose, I will listen intently and very possibly find a way to do their painting.
